Help With Car-Tastrophe to Keep Jiu-Jitsu Program Alive
Donation protected
TL;DR: Asking for donations to be used toward down payment on another vehicle after recent car-tastrophe. This would allow me to continue the Jiu-Jitsu program I have started.
One of my dreams in life, and a driving force in recovering from my mental health diagnoses, has been to run a martial arts program. I have spent many years building experience in various fighting arts, and more importantly, gathering experience coaching. From working with kids of all ages, to teens and adults; from martial arts academies to after-school and summer programs; I have been building a skill set despite fighting against debilitating issues. It is these skills and the drive to be able to help others with them that has been a massive part of my recovery.
In January of this year, I had the chance to start and lead a Jiu-Jitsu program in my hometown. However, It requires an hour drive. After 6 months, the program has grown to have a core set of dedicated students that have transformed their lives; losing weight, gaining confidence, and placing in local competitions are some of the outcomes that have already happened.
Unfortunately, an unforeseen issue with my vehicle has it needing thousands in repairs that simply were not worth it. Still having 2 years of payments on the loan, I had to use what little savings I had built to pay off the remainder of the loan and be left with a vehicle that's not able to be used.
Without a vehicle, I am unable to reliably be at the academy to coach and train my students. Any funds raised in this campaign will be used as a down payment on a newer vehicle that will allow me to continue being able to offer a space, coach my students, and grow our Jiu-Jitsu program and community further.
