I don’t like asking for favors, but I will do anything for my mamma as she has always sacrificed everything for me.
It has been my mom and I my whole life and we have the closest, most loving and caring relationship a mother and daughter could ask for.
On April 30th of this year, my mom was officially diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) at age 61. ALS is a very rare, fatal neuromuscular disease that robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
My mom’s progression has been extremely rapid. Within a matter of a few months prior to her diagnosis she went from walking on her own, to using a walker, then a wheelchair, to now needing 24-hour care to complete any basic, daily functions.
After moving to an assisted living facility that couldn’t accommodate her needs, she is currently in the hospital ready to be discharged. To say that this has been an overwhelming, all-consuming and heartbreaking time for us would be an understatement. I am so grateful for the love and support we have received thus far; thank you.
I am asking for any help to go towards placing her in a facility that will provide the care she needs to stay safe moving forward. The significant cost of these facilities and lack of assistance from the government, insurance, etc. for her placement has led to me put myself out of my comfort zone and ask for help.
Throughout my life, my mom made countless sacrifices to provide me with the abundant life I have had throughout my 26 years. Now it is my turn; but I can’t do it all on my own as she did.
These moments together are so very precious. I'm praying for the barrier of money to be broken down so we can focus on celebrating our love for one another as the constant that is never wavering amidst all these drastic changes.
I know everyone is dealing with their own hardships of life. Absolutely no amount is too small; anything will help us more than you can imagine. I thank you very much for your kindness, thoughts and prayers. The support is overwhelming and I truly believe you’ll be blessed for your generosity.
