My cat Cairo was more than just a pet—she was my constant companion, always wanting to be near me no matter what room I was in. She loved playing with a shoestring, climbing, scratching, and most of all, being loved by everyone she met. Her birthday was on Valentine’s Day, and she had just turned two years old.

A few weeks ago, Cairo ate part of a toy, and I didn’t realize until two days later when she started acting differently. I rushed her to the vet, and they said she needed emergency surgery. The surgery went well, and I thought she was on the road to recovery. But two days later, she began having trouble breathing. I took her to the ER, where things quickly got worse. The doctors discovered she had pneumonia, which put a lot of stress on her heart. They also found out she had a heart disease that made her heart abnormally small. Despite everything the vets did, her organs began to fail, and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go.

Losing Cairo so suddenly has been devastating. The bills for her surgery and emergency care are far more than I can afford.
