A message from Ricardo: My 104 year old grandfather, Maurilio Maravilla, was a great person. A humble and amazing man, he served as my father throughout my life. He took care of me since I was a child and, as time passed, the roles changed and it was time for me to take care of him. He lived with me for many years until he passed away on March 30th, 2020.
He came to the U.S. in the bracero program to work in the fields. In the 1960's, he met Cesar Chavez and marched along with him to support the movement. He kept working in the fields until 1980's. He lived a very long healthy life and always wanted to be active member of his community. The photo with me is the last march he did to support his community, when he was 103 year old.
My grandfather showed many values and taught me to care for others. I am now taking care of his burial. Every dollar counts. Thank you for taking the time to read this, honor my abuelito, and help out in this time when all are going through hardship. God bless you and thank you.
