Help with Brooke’s Medical Bills

Hi, my name is Brittney I am Brooke’s older sister. Brooke is 24years old, just graduated college and got her dream job in July as a forensics technician at Rocky Mount Police Dept in NC. Last Friday, Sept. 22, 2023 Brooke called me and asked me to meet her at her local emergency room because she was struggling to breathe and they thought she was in congestive heart failure. I made the 2.5hour drive to get to her, once I got there she was transferred to Chapel Hill Hospital an hour and a half away from home. After many long days of testing she was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma, a type of cancer that is very aggressive and rare in young adults and she will need 4 months of chemo. She underwent her first treatment of chemotherapy and unfortunately her body could not handle the chemotherapy. Due to the cancer cells dying and trying to fight back she was put on dialysis and subsequently put on life support on September 30th because she was struggling to breathe. As of today October 1st they said things are making a turn in a positive direction, however she will need to get 4 months of chemotherapy at Chapel Hill (1.5hrs away from her house). Unfortunately Brooke does not have short-term disability or cancer coverage. Because she was hired with the police department on July 24, she is not eligible for the shared sick leave program yet and she does not have enough hours to keep a pay check coming in. We are just trying to supplement her medical bills and other bills (such as gas and other things due to her traveling back and forth to the hospital) that may come up during her treatment period. Brooke is the hardest worker and she is missed by all of her coworkers. Anyone who knows her knows she is the absolute sweetest and she is a fighter so she is going to beat this. Anything at all will be a huge help and greatly appreciated. Please keep her in your prayers.
