Hello friends, etc! This is not my favorite thing - we have worked extremely hard to Not Need Help for a long time. But Brett is, once again, having back surgery. This time it's the big one. He’s avoided it for a long time (too long) but that’s no longer possible and after lots of conflicted feelings, he’s getting it over with early February.

As some of you know, Brett underwent a laminectomy in 2019. Despite being told he’d need to recover for several weeks, he was back to work almost immediately. Job security and bills weighed heavily. We've dealt with multiple surgeries since then, big and small, but we kept moving and things were ok.

A spinal fusion is going to require he ignore his inner worrier and rest!

Brett’s been a supportive husband, parent, and friend. He’s the best person. He works hard to smile through tremendous pain. He shows up always. He tolerates me and makes sure I’m fed. And I was determined to make sure he wouldn’t have anything to worry about this time. But guess who’s having a (much smaller, no big deal) surgery the week before him? Whoops

So I’m (horrified) asking for help. If we can take rent and a few expenses off his mind for a couple of months, maybe he'll stay down. It’s going to be a long, expensive, road and any little bit helps.
