Please Help with Bowie's Vet Bills

Donation protected
Bowie was brought home at just 10 weeks old from Adopt-a-Mutt Rescue Thunder Bay by his new mom and dad, Saara and Shaka. This was not even a year and a half ago...
Everyone who meets this dog falls in love, he will truly melt your heart. His mom and dad have always hoped to have him be a therapy dog, visiting seniors and any others who may need a smile and a wet sloppy kiss. I could honestly not imagine a better boy for the job!!

A few weeks ago Bowie developed a mild cough. His parents didnt think much of at the time. Roughly a week later a lesion appeared on his paw that eventually began to bleed and swell. All of a sudden this happy go lucky, playful boy that loved to go for walks, had become a lethargic, sullen pup and his mom and dad grew quite concerned. They knew this wasn't their boy.
After having multiple vet checks, Bowie has been through the ringer. He has had a fever, swollen lymph nodes, bloodwork showing high white blood cell count, lesions over his whole body including inside his adorable ears, fungal spores sent to Toronto for testing, swelling limbs and paws, and more.
The vets believe he has contracted blastomycosis. This is a very serious fungal infection that is often misdiagnosed or unnoticed, it attacks the whole body inside and out, and can be deadly. In the case of our Bowie, the infection quickly led to glaucoma causing severe pain and inflammation in his eyes. Much to the heartbreak of his mom and dad, the decision was made to remove his right eye.
Although they were lucky to diagnose early enough to save his young precious life, Bowie now faces months (at least 6!) of anti-fungal medication, eye drops and pain killers.
The costs of his vet bills from tests and checks, surgery, prescriptions have already cost well over $3000. This hefty bill, and the forecast of prescription costs and vet visits to come have really hit this young couple hard.
Saara and Shaka are not people who ask for help. I have known Saara more than half of my life and I've always said that she is the most generous and selfless person I've ever known. When my best friend told me that she may have to cancel or move their wedding, I knew I had to try to help. Instead of continuing to plan their wedding in Grenada where Shaka is from, they want to potentially put that on hold to do whatever it takes to get their baby better. Understandably so, because Bowie is the happiest and sweetest good boy! I am so thankful that they are such attentive parents and noticed his symptoms right away. They are so thankful to their vets for being so thorough and diagnosing him early, and him being able to keep his other eye.
There just truly isn't a family more deserving of a little help through a really tough time. All I hope is a long healthy life for Bowie, and my best friend to finally get to marry the love of her life. I had to extend the request to all friends, family, lovers of Bowie, anyone who could find it in their hearts to help, it would mean the world. No donation is too small, honestly any help would be appreciated.
In his incredibly short life, Bowie has made so many friends (human and animal!), and has everyone wrapped around his little paw. I can't wait to see him fulfill his destiny and spread that love and happiness through our city! Thank you so much for reading, and considering helping Bowie and his family.
