Melissa Boone, better known to many as Boonzie Tattoo, is facing the fight of her life. She has been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes, and the road ahead will be long and difficult. Over the coming months, Melissa will undergo chemotherapy, radiation, multiple surgeries, and ultimately a double mastectomy. Each treatment brings physical pain, emotional challenges, and an uncertain journey toward recovery.
As heartbreaking as this diagnosis is, the financial impact has added another overwhelming burden. As an independent tattoo artist, Melissa's ability to earn a living depends entirely on being present, focused, and physically well enough to create the high-quality work her clients know and trust. Tattoos are permanent pieces of art that people carry with them for a lifetime, and Melissa has always believed her clients deserve her very best. Throughout treatment, she simply won't be able to give them the level of care, creativity, and attention they deserve. As a self-employed artist, she has no paid medical leave or FMLA benefits to fall back on, leaving her without a reliable income while medical bills and everyday living expenses continue to grow.
Anyone who knows Melissa knows she is far more than an incredibly talented artist. She is the person who makes others feel comfortable, listens without judgment, celebrates life's milestones through her work, and somehow finds a way to make people laugh even when she's carrying the weight of the world herself. Throughout this unimaginable diagnosis, she has continued to face each day with courage, grace, and the same warmth and humor that have touched so many lives.
Now Melissa needs the community she has spent years giving to. Every donation—no matter the amount—will help cover medical expenses, everyday bills, and the loss of income so she can focus on what matters most: fighting cancer and healing. If you're unable to donate, sharing her story is another meaningful way to help.
Melissa has spent years leaving beautiful, lasting art in the lives of others. Now, together, we can leave a lasting impact on hers by reminding her that she doesn't have to face this battle alone.
