I was looking forward to completing my last semester at Cal State Northridge and getting my bachelor’s degree this May. After graduation, I was going to finally begin working my dream job as a video game designer. It's something that I've been aspiring to do since my cousin Brandon introduced me to video games when I was 5 years old.
But what I didn’t realize until this semester was that I was ill with a blood disorder, the same that contributed to the death of my late grandmother.
Now I must halt my plans for a while and focus on my health and recovery. I must see a specialist and my weight has dropped to a mere 88 pounds. Plus, I need to get costly supplements and medication to help my condition so that it doesn’t worsen.
On top of that this means that I cannot continue with all my classes this semester. Withdrawing from classes at this point will come with a hefty cost. As will tuition for the fall once I get the medical help that I need.
Thank you.
Costs:
-Medical expenses, supplements and meds $10,000
-Rideshare to doctor appointments and lab tests $700
-Fine for withdrawing early from class $1,200
-New tuition costs $3300
