Our cat Blaze and my partner Amanda were both tragically attacked and mauled after we adopted a dog. It was a waking nightmare and the worst night of our lives. Blaze received wonderful care at the emergency vet, but unfortunately, her injuries were too extensive and we had to end her suffering. Blaze was a very special cat, a dollface Persian and a rare female orange cat. Like all orange cats, more often than not, she didn’t have the single brain cell—something that always made us laugh and brought so much joy to our home. She lit up every life she touched and did not deserve this. She meant everything to Mal, especially—he is disabled and autistic, and she was his emotional support cat. Losing her has left a huge hole in our hearts and our home.
Amanda is recovering from her injuries, but the emotional and financial toll on our family has been immense. As you may know, emergency vet care is very costly, and we also need to pay for Blaze's cremation. GoFundMe will start our fundraiser with a smaller goal to help us build momentum, and as we receive support, the goal will automatically update to reflect our full need. Every little bit is appreciated so very much, and if you can’t donate right now, we completely understand—please consider sharing our story and helping us reach others who might be able to support us. Our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for any kindness you can offer during this difficult time.
