Help with bills through tragic accident
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and those concerned and donating,
I worked 50+ hours a week in a sheet metal shop - typically 5 am until 4:30 pm - quickly moving my way up and being in charge at only 25 years old.
On August 17th, 2020 I experienced a tragic work accident that has quickly changed the trajectory of my life - financially, personally, emotionally and mentally. A machine I had used plenty of times before - boss had even advised for, “no new guys to use it,” and in fact, preferred me to use it - caught my hair and tore my scalp from my head, taking half of my right ear and almost removing my left eyelid.
*I always enforced my own safety measurements of wearing a bandana and hair in a ponytail to hold it back - working this way for about two years with no prior issues.*
I was rushed to the hospital around 2:30 pm; I had amazing doctors get to work on microscopically reconnecting nerves that tore from the accident and another 10 hours of surgery in hopes to repair my scalp as much as possible.
One week post-operation, we will finally be able to see IF the surgery took and is healing.. or if it isn’t. So, on top of the agonizing pain and trauma of such an event taking place - I have been left wondering and questioning what is going to happen in a hospital bed for 7 days. From there, I have to find out IF I need more surgery on my scalp, if I will ever be able to grow hair again, and about 6 months before they can put my ear back - which, is currently stored in my abdomen to keep alive until further notice.
Anyone who knows me, knows how hard of a worker I am and how hard it is for me to stay still at all, let alone not work. Naturally, this is adding a constant stress on my mind - as my amazingly, supportive girlfriend through all of this and I just moved into our Brooklyn duplex in June - now, being concerned about how and when we will make everything we need for our rent.
(On top of her needing to rent a car to be able to visit me in the hospital, still buy food and take care of other bills)
We are not ones to ask for much, but the time has come: anything you can donate is greatly appreciated for my well-being and peace of mind.
Thanks again & God bless,
Juan
