Help with Beep's surgery costs
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Niko. About 5 months ago this little stray kitten chose me, walked into my house and we instantly fell in love. She has been a joy, super smart and playful and chatty. Bane (my other elderly cat) adores her also.
On 3/26 i was out in my back yard and watching her catch bugs and lay in the grass. She snuck through a tiny opening at the back corner of the fence I thought must be too small for her, and by the time I got to her she was too far through to grab.
We called to the neighbor to hold his viscous dog so we could retrieve her, and he did for about 5 seconds, then he let it go and the dog ran down and attacked her.
My partner Kenny intervened and retrieved little Beep. We immediately brought her to the emegency vet, where she has been in critical care since.
As I write this on 3/28 she is undergoing surgical amputation of her back leg. Thankfully he did not puncture her abdomen and she is likely to live. They say cats are incredibly resilient. It has been a really tough weekend for us.
Our neighbor threatened us and laughed at us when we told him what happened and what the estimate was, so I am not expecting any help from them.
The total bill is $4178 for stabilization and $4215 for the amputation surgery, or roughly $8400. We have applied for all the grants, but since I am out of the national poverty limits (14k/year) we are not eligible for them. (despite cost of living being what it is in the bay area). I did receive $1000 care credit loan, and have a credit card I can put the rest on so we don't delay the surgery and allow her to begin her healing journey.
Any assistance will help us. Thanks for making it this far. Xo
