I’m posting this in hopes of reaching anyone who may be willing to help cover vet costs for a stray colony cat I feed and care for. Her name is Batman, she’s about a year and a half old, and has recently developed very concerning symptoms: severe eye inflammation, weight loss, and a lack of appetite. Batman has always been smaller than the other cats I care for. She weighs only 5.5 lbs, but until now, vets have always said she was healthy despite her size.

Over the past two weeks, her condition has worsened. She’s been struggling with unstable balance, continued loss of appetite, and now has yellow-green mucus coming from her nostrils. The vet says she’s on the maximum amount of antibiotics she can handle, but unfortunately she’s still not improving.

Batman is just one of 12 stray cats in a colony that I feed and care for daily in South Central Los Angeles. I see firsthand the overwhelming need faced by stray animals in my city, and caring for this colony is my small way of helping. Unfortunately, with Batman’s issues, my financial resources have been stretched thin. Her first two vet visits totaled about $850, but the most recent visits, which are the ones I really need help with have been for $1,085 and $245 respectively. The bill for the first visit is attached, while the other one is for bloodwork, and I’ll be paying that once the results come in.

Like many cats, Batman deserves an opportunity to thrive and live her best life, and I want to give her that chance. I’m committed to doing everything I can for her, but I’d love to ask the community for help too.
