My mother, Barb Feighner, was at lunch with friends on Sunday, November 20 when she had a sudden seizure. After being transported to the hospital, scans showed a brain tumor that required immediate surgery on Tuesday morning. Luckily, after another night in the hospital, she was able to go home Wednesday to enjoy Thanksgiving with family.
As a result of her surgery, Barb is experiencing weakness on her left side, especially her arm and hand. Although the weakness is improving, she still has to focus for her hand to respond how she wants it to. Also, the surgeon determined part of the tumor is inoperable. Barb is meeting with an oncologist on December 19th to determine the extent of the malignancy and future treatment.
Barb has always had a positive outlook and will help anyone that crosses her path. She never sits still and is usually working on multiple projects at once. She helps take care of her mother-in-law, who lives with Barb and her husband, Scott. She loves visiting family and friends, including her granddaughter.
Barb was a self-employed graphic designer and has had some of the same clients for 38 years. Due to the weakness in her hand, she will need to retire earlier than expected. Health insurance on the government marketplace was too expensive, and Barb is nine months away from qualifying for medicare. Donations will go towards medical expenses for the hospital stay and surgery. Any remaining funds will go towards future treatments for the tumor and therapy for her arm/hand weakness. Thank you so much for anything you can contribute.
