Help with baby Justin's medical bills

We are only ten days into 2022, and this year has already proven to be a struggle for the Mueller family.

Last week, my three month old baby nephew, Justin, was diagnosed with COVID and RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). The upper respiratory dangers of COVID or RSV alone can be deadly for a baby his age, and to be diagnosed with both at once has been agonizing for his parents and our family.

The day after receiving his diagnosis my brother, Cory, and his wife Jordan noticed that his oxygen levels had dropped significantly on their Owlet baby monitor. Justin’s illness and the resulting respiratory distress had dropped his blood oxygen levels down into the low 70% range. A baby his age should be reading oxygen levels between 90-100%. Justin was struggling for oxygen so severely he had started turning purple. They leapt to action and rushed him to their local emergency room for help. The emergency room was able to get him stabilized, but due to his age had him transferred to Children’s Hospital in Highlands Ranch via ambulance to better support his needs.

While the staff at Children’s did everything they could to help him, his oxygen levels were not improving enough and the decision was made to transfer Justin again to the care of the NICU at Swedish Medical Center where they would be able to support his recovery with higher oxygen therapy.

Justin spent 5 days in the NICU at Swedish, slowly being weaned off oxygen and he was able to get stronger and fight the infections. As of today, January 10th, Justin has gotten strong enough to be released and is continuing his recovery at home. Since Justin was diagnosed, neither Cory nor Jordan have been able to work due to COVID rules and will need some assistance with the medical bills that have been accrued for Justin’s care over the facilities he was treated in.
