Rayann and Andrew Denlinger are my sister and brother in law. In 2021, they already had two beautiful girls and decided to have another baby to add to their family. They told us all last fall Rayann was pregnant and we were so excited for the new baby. They had no idea the journey this pregnancy would take them on!
At about 20 weeks pregnant, Rayann was having severe symptoms including dangerously high blood pressure, drops in heart rate, inability to sleep and severe uncontrollable anxiety. She was admitted to the hospital and it literally took several teams of doctors to figure out she had a somewhat rare illness called Cushing's Syndrome. There was a growth on her adrenal gland causing high levels of cortisol to be released into her system and causing all these problems. At one point the symptoms got so severe that the Dr. suggested they may have to terminate the pregnancy to save Rayann. They named baby Gavin in that fear and uncertainty as his name means "God-sent".
My sister was so brave, her daughters and her husband so strong and supportive, as Rayann spent literally over a month in the hospital, including during christmas, unable to see her two daughter's because of covid restrictions. She had to undergo surgery while pregnant to remove the tumor, and then months of medications and more symptoms until they got her system in balance. No one was certain how these meds would ultimately affect baby Gavin. Against so many odds, our little man made it!!! And he's beautiful. Sadly they had to leave him in the hospital for over a week after his birth due to some respiratory and heart rate complications from the medication exposure.
During that week, Rayann was also readmitted to the hospital with post-eclampsia symptoms, but not at the same hospital her baby was at, sadly. Again the entire family was so brave and got through this.
Yesterday, Gavin got to meet his sister's and go home for the first time finally! Rayann got to be there to take her baby home. Its been SUCH a crazy road to baby Gavin, but the entire family is healthy and whole and together now.
Through this journey however, they have amassed some daunting medical bills. Adding a new addition is hard enough, but with massive medical bills it can be overwhelming. Lets help them start their life with baby Gavin without this worry hanging over their heads. They've had enough worry and fear just getting to this point.
