Help with Baby Donovan’s surgery

Hi everyone, thank you so very much for taking the time to visit and read my story. My little baby needs surgery. His name is Donavan. He is almost 1-years old. I am flying him from Virginia to Nebraska Medical Center where we will reside together for a couple months. I am raising funds to help care for him during his surgery and to pay for our stay in Nebraska.

When Donovan was born, he had to have surgery on his bowels because they were too large. This left him with a short gut, known as Short Gut Syndrome. After his surgery, he had to have an ostomy bag and a G-tube.  At 1-month old, he had to have a broviac and a blood transfusion. At about 2-months old, Donavan had to have another surgery to have his bowel reconnected and to remove the ostomy bag.
He was eventually moved to the 7th floor for rehab where he spent another 3-months. During this time, we received a lot of training on how to take care of his medical needs at home. Afterwards, we were finally able to take him home for the first time.

At about 7-months, his central line broke. He was put to sleep again. This was all done at Children’s Hospital. However,  had to make multiple trips back to Children's Hospital for multiple reasons, which have often turned into multi-month stays. Donovan  would throw up daily, throughout the day, causing dehydration. He would also get sick very easily. It is easy to get sick with Short Gut Syndrome. Just recently, we were back at Children’s Hospital due to him being sick again, dehydrated, and not being able to tolerate his feeds. Consequently, he had another X-ray done, as well as an upper GI.

Turns out that one of Donavan's intestines is currently very dilated. Therefore, he has to have another surgery. This surgery is called the Step Procedure. We will have to fly from Virginia to Nebraska for him to receive surgery from Dr. Mercer at the Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. David F Mercer, MD is an incredible doctor. Children come from all over to see him. Any donations you make will go toward flights, food, supplies, and bills, as I will be out of work during this process, as well as a rental car and lodging at the Ronald McDonald’s House in Nebraska.

I am also accepting gift cards, such as store cards, food cards, visa gift cards, or anything you can think of that would come to good use while we are there. W
e will have to be in Nebraska for up to two months. After his surgery, Donovan should be able to tolerate his Feeds and we can begin weaning him off of his TPNs & Lipids. He should also have less bacteria growth on his intestine. And hopefully he will have to make fewer trips to the hospital.

Please pray for my baby, Donovan. Hopefully, he will be able to be more of the typical baby that he is and live a more normal life. He has spent most of his first year in the hospital. And yet, with all that he has been through, he is still always such a happy baby. He will be 1-years old November 3rd. We are hoping to be home in time to spend the holidays together this year, as we had to spend every holiday in the hospital last year. I am going to be a crazy mess the day of his surgery. So please everyone we need lots of prayers and I am forever grateful for whatever you are able to donate. Thank you!!

Also, here is my YouTube link. I just started it, so I'm still learning how to work it.
