Help with Apollo's Life Saving Care

To know the love of a dog is to know unconditional, unadulterated, unabashed, 100% pure and genuine love. Love so strong it hurts. Anyone who has ever owned or cared for one knows this. The way they greet you at the front door, lick your tears away, and comfort you when you're not at your best...there's nothing quite like it and when they're hurting or in harm's way, there's not much that can or will stop us from protecting them. For some of us, they're our children.

Apollo, Jessica Sproch's six year old rescue, saved her life just as much as she saved his. I know it's an old cliche but we all know it to be true. Jessica rescued him and his sister, an extremely attached pair, as puppies off the side of the road and gave them both a home.

Apollo is normally such a spirited, energetic, dog that's full of enough life for four dogs. That is until about two weeks ago. His curious nature got him into trouble when he got a corncob out of the trash. It found itself lodged in his intestine causing a blockage that made him very sick very suddenly. He had to have an emergency surgery. The damage had been done, though. Over a foot of his intestine had been shredded and had to be surgically removed. I came to Greenwood from Spartanburg for a few days to help out and all seemed fine.

We thought he was getting better but suddenly things got much worse. I came down again today to take him back to the vet to find out that he was going into septic shock, which can happen after such a surgery. His liver and kidneys were starting to shut down. We, then, had to take him to Upstate Emergency Hospital + Specialists in Greenville. They're keeping him for the foreseeable future until he's stable enough to access the damage. Just to see him, they needed a $2,000 deposit today. Jessica is working two jobs, trying to save money, and get back on track after this pandemic that of course has wreaked havoc on us all. We scrounged up all the money we could for the deposit but the total bill was estimated to be upwards of $5,000. It could be more, it could be less. I just know that in a time like this, the last thing she needs to be worried about is being able to afford to save his life.

If it were me, I would be too ashamed, scared, and terrified to ask anyone for help. We all have moments in our lives when we need assistance and I want to know that I did what I could. So I'm setting up this account for anyone and everyone to help with whatever they can. Even if it's just five bucks, a prayer, or a kind word, I know she will appreciate it all. Apollo is her baby boy and his sister, mom, and I are going to be lost without him while he's getting better in Greenville.

Thank you for anything and everything that you can do.
