Help With Angelica’s Celebration of Life
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Marilyn. I am Angelica’s mom and I am requesting help to cover our extended stay (5hrs) away from home. Angelica’s Journey Began on March 19th…. Well way before that… but that was her first PreOp visit with her neurosurgical team. During that visit Angelica had PreOp labs unsuccessfully drawn that spiraled into multiple trips to Er’s, Urgent Care’s looking for answers, it was finally diagnosed as Cellulitis and was treated with many different antibiotics which then turned into a Med reaction/overdose that was created by a medical error. Which then lead to a week long hospital stay. Needless to say during all of this our financial resources have been depleted even though I continued to try to work and pick up extra shifts between all of the doctoring and medical trips. Many of the appointments were in Bemidji, Duluth, and the Twin Cities. We are currently in St.Paul at Gillette Children’s Hospital where she finally underwent her procedure for a full shunt replacement. For a more detailed version of the whole story please visit her Facebook Page: Angelicas’s Journey.
Angelica returned to Gillette Children’s Hospital on November 27th for a EVD drain placement, her procedure was put on hold due to overbooking in Operating Room, we stayed overnight at a hotel and returned to the hospital the morning of the 28th the EVD was placed successfully, and she has been in the hospital since.Angelica spent her 25th birthday in the hospital. I have been off work since my last scheduled day Nov. 24th, the extended hospital stay had created yet again financial hardship and income loss for myself and her Grandma who is her caregiver. Please consider donating to help with the expenses and income loss, we are hopeful to be able to celebrate Christmas and her birthday at home following her hospital stay.
January 16th Due to ongoing medical trips and hospital stays I lost my job, due to being gone for medical trips and hospital stays & not being able to be at work.
Then we were admitted to Gillette for a shunt revision that was supposed to be a 3 day hospital stay that turned into a 13 day hospital stay at Gillette Children’s hospital, 3 infections and an HLH diagnosis that lead to a transfer to Regions Hospital ICU Angelica lost her battle and unexpectedly passed away 45 days later on March 13th.
There is more of the story in the updates if you are interested in the details of what a shunt replacement or HLH is
Please help us give Angelica the Celebration of Life she deserves. All help is greatly appreciated ❤️
