I’m starting this fundraiser to benefit my parents in-law, Nancy and Wayne. Wayne experienced a medical emergency last summer that required an extended hospital and rehabilitation stay. Very shortly after he returned home, Nancy received a diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). As her disease has progressed, she is no longer able to walk, relies on a wheelchair for mobility, and requires assistance for most daily tasks among other complicating medical issues. Due to these circumstances and increasing needs, they currently reside in an assisted living facility. We know the days in their current living situation are limited due to evolving medical needs and finances, but our current goal is to keep Wayne and Nancy living together as long as safely possible. Together, they served 12 churches during Wayne’s time as a United Methodist pastor. And together, they are facing this challenge day by day.
Living with ALS is very expensive because of the amount of medical equipment, supplies, and caregiving help needed, and it is quickly draining their financial resources. Any funds raised will be used by Nancy and Wayne to help keep them in their current living situation, assist with caregiving needs, and help with any other medical expenses and supplies not covered by insurance.
Thank you for any contribution made to their fundraiser, and thank you for any prayers lifted up on their behalf.
