Campaign Title:
Help Winter Skye Heal: Support Our Beloved Alaskan Malamute's Recovery
Introduction:
Hello, everyone. My name is Hillary Kerns, and I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea to help my beloved eighteen-month-old Alaskan Malamute, Winter Skye. Winter Skye has brought so much joy and love into my life, but now she’s facing a challenging and painful ordeal. She was recently involved in a terrible accident that left her with severe injuries to her front right leg. As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly difficult time for both of us, and I’m doing everything I can to ensure she gets the care she needs. Unfortunately, the cost of her medical treatment is overwhelming, and I’m here to humbly ask for your support.
Personal Story/Inspiration:
Winter Skye isn’t just a pet to me; she’s my companion, my best friend, and my family. From the moment I brought her home, she filled my life with happiness and laughter. Her playful nature, boundless energy, and affectionate personality have been a constant source of comfort and joy. Whether it’s her wagging tail greeting me at the door after a long day, or her playful antics that never fail to bring a smile to my face, Winter Skye has made my life so much richer.
When I adopted Winter Skye, I made a promise to her that I would always take care of her and protect her. But now, I find myself in a situation where I’m struggling to fulfill that promise. The accident that injured Winter Skye was a devastating blow, and seeing her in pain breaks my heart. I’m committed to doing everything in my power to help her recover, but I can’t do it alone. That’s why I’m turning to the kindness and generosity of friends, family, and animal lovers everywhere. Winter Skye means the world to me, and I’m hoping that with your help, she can make a full recovery and continue to bring joy into the lives of everyone she meets.
Problem Statement:
On a recent day that started like any other, tragedy struck when Winter Skye was accidentally run over by a car. The impact caused severe injuries to her front right leg, resulting in multiple fractures that require extensive medical treatment. Winter Skye was rushed to the vet, where she was put in a splint, then a hard cast, back into a splint, many many surgeries, back in a splint now, needs more surgeries and physical therapy. But this is just the beginning of a long and expensive road to recovery.
The medical bills are already piling up, and as someone who lives paycheck to paycheck as a disabled senior citizen on a fixed income, I’m finding it nearly impossible to cover the costs on my own. Winter Skye needs specialized care, including surgery, ongoing veterinary visits, physical therapy, and medications to manage her pain and aid in her recovery. The estimated cost for all of this is several thousand dollars—a sum that is far beyond my current means.
Without the necessary treatment, Winter Skye’s injuries could lead to long-term complications or even permanent disability. The thought of not being able to provide her with the care she needs is unbearable, and I’m determined to do whatever it takes to give her the best chance at a full and happy life. But to do that, I need your help.
Solution:
Your donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward covering the costs of Winter Skye’s medical treatment. This includes:

Project Details
Winter Skye’s treatment plan involves a combination of surgery, medical care, and physical therapy. Here’s a breakdown of what your donations will help cover:
Surgery: Winter Skye needs surgery to repair the fractures in her leg. This is a complex procedure that will involve setting the bones and stabilizing them with pins and plates to ensure proper healing. The surgery itself is expensive, but it is absolutely necessary for her recovery.
Veterinary Visits: Following the surgery, Winter Skye will need to see the vet regularly for check-ups. These visits are crucial for monitoring her progress, adjusting her treatment plan as needed, and ensuring that her leg is healing properly.
Physical Therapy: Once Winter Skye’s leg has started to heal, she will need physical therapy to help her regain strength and mobility. This will involve exercises and activities designed to rebuild the muscles in her leg and prevent stiffness or loss of movement.
Medications: Throughout her recovery, Winter Skye will need a variety of medications to manage her pain, reduce inflammation, and support her overall health. These medications are essential for her comfort and well-being as she heals.
Ongoing Care: In addition to the surgery, veterinary visits, physical therapy, and medications, Winter Skye may require additional treatments or equipment, such as splints, braces, or mobility aids, to support her recovery. Your donations will help cover any unexpected costs that arise during her healing process.
Milestones/Goals:
Our primary goal is to raise the funds needed to cover Winter Skye’s medical expenses and ensure she receives the best possible care. Here are the milestones we hope to achieve with your help:
Initial Goal: $14,000 – This will cover the cost of Winter Skye’s surgery and initial veterinary visits.
Secondary Goal: $10,500 – This will allow us to pay for her physical therapy and ongoing veterinary care.
Stretch Goal: $7,000 – Reaching this goal will help cover the cost of medications, any additional treatments, and any unexpected expenses that may arise during Winter Skye’s recovery and almost daily hospital visits.
By reaching these goals, we can ensure that Winter Skye receives the comprehensive care she needs to heal and thrive.
