Hi. I'm Veris. I work with the homeless community in Los Angeles alongside my friend, Brian. Winter Breedlove became homeless after moving to Los Angeles and encountering physical and emotional abuse at her living space in Koreatown. I am trying to help Winter return to a semblance of normalcy here in Los Angeles after escaping a Southern evangelical upbringing for the greener pastures of Medi-Cal.

 

Unfortunate circumstances beset Winter after arriving in Los Angeles. She suffers from bipolar disorder and is almost paralyzed from PTSD she's sustained from a violent sexual incident in Nashville. Winter originally moved to Los Angeles to utilize Medi-Cal and a transgender grant for facial feminization surgery.

 

While living at a trans emergency shelter for persons with mental illness in Koreatown, Winter encountered abuse from a housemate and had to obtain a last-minute recovery house for her upcoming chin reduction surgery.

 

Winter has obtained employment through Allied Security. However, we are trying to fundraise rent expenses while she recovers as the procedures are not officially covered by Medi-Cal. The logistics of making this surgery a reality with an unstable living situation and overall lack of access to medication during her road travels made for a shaky landing in Los Angeles.

 

We plan to disperse any funds raised toward Winter to help with rent during this recovery period. We hope to raise enough money for one month's rent plus utilities.
