Thank you so much to those who have donated so far. An update for those who are following along, is that Winston had his surgery on Wednesday night and all went well. The compression on his spine was so severe they had to remove an entire disc.

The good news is, is that he is recovering well, eating and very comfortable. They are yet to see any movement in his back legs but that is not uncommon at this stage of the recovery, he still has deep pain sensation which is very promising. Winston will stay at the vet until at least Monday where they hope to see some movement.

Hi, my name is Michaela, and I’m raising funds on behalf of my sister Sarah and her beloved 5-year-old Dachshund, Winston.

Just yesterday, Sarah and her partner returned home from a weekend away to find Winston struggling to walk. Within the hour, he had lost all movement and feeling in his hind legs. He was rushed to the vet, where he was diagnosed with Stage 4 IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) — a painful and sudden condition that left them facing an impossible decision: life-saving emergency surgery or saying goodbye far too soon.

Winston is not just a pet — he’s family. He’s been by Sarah’s side through some of life’s biggest ups and downs, offering nothing but love, comfort, and wagging-tail joy. Choosing to fight for him was never a question, but the financial burden is heavy. The cost of surgery alone is $13,000, not including the extensive rehabilitation he’ll need afterward.
