Dear Family & Friends,

 

As many of you know, my father Winston was recently diagnosed with diffuse large B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the tonsil. This was unexpected and has thrown our family a loop, but thankfully it seems that it is early in the course so we are hopeful that he will heal quickly. As part of the road to recovery, Winston will need chemotherapy treatment, with an expected course around 3 months, and possibly radiation therapy as well.

 

Winston has had to make the difficult decision to leave his home and life in Freeport, Bahamas and will stay with me in Miami, FL for the duration of his treatment at the University of Miami. Although his insurance covers some of the treatment costs, it does not cover all of it. The copayments are adding up quickly and surely will continue to do so, as anyone who has faced something similar knows all too well.

 

My father Winston is well known for his kind and generous spirit and has always supported and assisted those he cares for in whatever way he can. Having been independent since a very young age, despite any hardship thrown at him, he understandably rarely asks for help. That is why I decided to make this page, in hopes to alleviate some of the financial stress so that he can focus on his health and recovery. We have received so many kind words during this process thus far, and I know many have asked how they can help. Your help is appreciated more than you will ever know, whether it be financially or especially in your thoughts, prayers and well-wishes. Thank you so much for the outpouring of love he has already received and surely will continue to receive!!
