Help Winnie's Students Volunteer This Summer

Hello!!! My name is Winnie Berger and I am a special education teacher in Tucson, Arizona. I will be teaching an elective summer course called CBE or Community-Based Education for 3 weeks in June. I've scheduled for us to volunteer daily at a variety of Tucson organizations including the Community Food Bank, Casa Maria Soup Kitchen, Reid Park Zoo, Habitat for Humanity, Diaper Bank, and Humane Society. It's going to be sooo much fun.
I have (3) additional opportunities that I'd love for my students to experience, but they cost money! Here is what I am fundraising for specifically:
- Grocery supplies to make 20 sack lunches for Primavera Works workers (ethical day-labor opportunities for those experiencing homelessness or job loss)
- The minimum donation amount to reserve volunteer spots at Ben's Bells (we will create and paint clay beads for the Be Kind organization)
- Student entrance fees for the Under the Oaks Lavender Farm in Oracle (OK, we're not volunteering, but I can't wait to show my students this example of the magical and beautiful possibilities Tucson has to offer us)
For their final project, my students will also be required to create their own GoFundMe campaign for a non-profit organization of their choosing. I wanted to demonstrate my own example of crowdfunding that they could use as a reference. <3
I have been teaching for 3 years and have spent so much of my personal money on supplies for my school and for my students. I would appreciate any small contribution to this community project as I am unable to acquire funds from my school's administration for these opportunities. If we have reached our goal and there is additional funding, all proceeds will go to the Nahui Ollin Wellness Program for their continual community partnership with Toltecalli High School and powerful youth engagement programs with our CBE classes throughout the school year.
