Help Winnie Walk Pain-Free: Hip Surgery Fund

Meet Winnie - a sweet Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix we rescued a couple months ago from a great organization who took her off the streets in the DFW area. We immediately fell in love and began our adventures together. In late October she dislocated her right hip - to the vet ER we went for a fix and learned in the process that she was born with severe hip dysplasia in both hips despite her young age of 12 months. The vet was able to put the hip back in place, but there are no guarantees it will be stable and not dislocate again.

Fast forward a few weeks and a visit with an orthopedic vet specialist for evaluation. After reviewing several options, the recommended treatment for Winnie’s long term quality of life is bi-lateral total hip replacement surgery. So….here we go. Winnie’s first hip surgery is scheduled for December and the price tag is not cheap. It rivals a human joint replacement in cost, recovery and therapy. But how could we not do it? She is a complete doll and deserves a full life free from pain and free from the possibility of another freak injury from just doing normal dog things.

Side note - we suspect that whoever the original owner was, may have discovered her disability and dumped her. It could be the reason she was on the streets and needed rescuing. But we are grateful to have her in our lives and want the very best for her to live a long and painful life free life. Please help with any amount you can. It will all go toward her medical bill.
