Help Winks & Sophie

Hi my name is Kimberley, I am an independent street cat rescuer. I have helped multiple tens of street cats over the past 4 years, to get the care they so deserve.

This is Winks, she is part of a local inner West colony. where she has a feeder, but unfortunately she has been left extremely sick, for a very long time. A dear rescue friend of mine, Kitten Rescue Australia sent me her picture and asked if I could help her, as she was in my local area. I took one look at her vulnerable and devastating state and could not turn a blind eye.

I set to work with the help of another experienced rescue friend. We had to communicate with feeders and find out how we were going to safely trap her. We knew it would not be an easy rescue. By the state of her severely mattered fur, we knew serious dental disease was present, alongside loss of sight in one eye. She is also bullied in the colony, so we know she waits a long time, after the other cats have eaten. However, we knew we could not leave her in that state. Bearing in mind, we were told, she had been in that state a very long time. Which is just devastating. This type of profound neglect is so painful. Her fur pulling like that on her frail body, the chronic dental disease, where she had Puss coming out of her mouth, from multiple absences and an original trauma to her eye, leaving her blind.

Finally on Wednesday the 7th of February, we were able to safely trap her. She was then rushed to the hospital. We have since learned, she will require all of her teeth to be removed, as they are completely rotten and some have even fallen out and also her dead eye removed. We are also waiting on a full panel of blood work, to show us if there is anything else sinister going on. She will not be put back to the street. So we are raising money toward her dental, eye removal, full blood work, medication and long term care. This cat well and truly deserves some serious TLC, and we will ensure she gets it!!!!
