Help Willow get a new wheelchair

We just wanted to start off by saying that we hoped to never be in this situation where we needed to ask for help...but here we are. We want to be able to provide Willow with the most basic enjoyments in life but they come at a high cost which we have found that most of it is never covered with insurance because “it isn’t a necessity”.  There is a list of things that we still need to work on (bike that fits her needs, accessible bars for the bath,  railing for the steps at home), but this is the most urgent for her to enjoy the outdoors. Here isa little bit about Willow...

Willow is 8 years old and was diagnosed with Arthrogryposis while I was still pregnant with her. When she was 3 months old she started going to Shriners Hospital to start serial casting to help straighten her legs. Her hips were also dislocated so she has had several surgeries to repair her hip sockets and straighten her legs.

Willow is such a fighter and has overcome so much in her life already. She LOVES being independent, doing outdoor activities and arts/crafts. We have struggled with finding the right equipment that make things easier for her but will keep fighting.

We finally found what seems to be the perfect wheelchair for Willow to be able to enjoy the outdoors more and is something she can grow into (https://www.gogrit.us/grit-freedom-chair-3-model). We got her current wheelchair through insurance about 4 years ago but she is outgrowing it and it is not ideal for any outdoor activities. Insurance only covers the most basic wheelchair and we are looking for something that will give Willow the most out of life.

We have applied for a grant through Challenged Athletes Foundation last year but are still waiting for an update on that. Since the weather has been nice we have been on several walks and on the nature trail but her legs start to hurt because she is too tall for the leg rest and numerous other issues with her current chair.

If we are even able to reach half of this amount we would be so grateful. We would even appreciate it if we just got some shares on her story.

Thank you so much!!!!
