I’m reaching out on behalf of my sister Alyssa and her fiancé Tyler. They’re going through a really heartbreaking time right now with their cat, William, and honestly, it’s hard to put into words how much he means to them.

William isn’t just a pet. He’s family. Since they adopted him in 2021, he’s been the heart and entertainment of their home. He’s a wiggly, curious little black cat who’s always up to something. He’s been known to nibble on (nontoxic) houseplants, and once, after deciding his litter box wasn’t up to his standards, started using the plants for more than just snacking. He’s goofy, sweet, and full of personality. If you’ve ever met him, you know exactly what I mean.

Over the past few months, William started showing signs he wasn’t feeling well. At first, it was occasional vomiting and a lack of appetite. But just this past week, things took a serious turn. He stopped eating completely and was extremely lethargic. Alyssa and Tyler rushed him to the emergency vet at the University of Florida, where he was hospitalized for three days.

In the beginning, there was hope. The vets thought it might be a food allergy or inflammation. But after more tests, they gave us the news we were dreading. William has Large Cell Lymphoma, a fast-moving form of cancer. Without treatment, his time is very limited. Even with chemotherapy and surgery, he may only have about six months.

It’s devastating. But William isn’t ready to give up. He’s still purring, still snuggling, still trying to play. He’s still William. As long as he’s comfortable and wants to keep going, we want to give him that chance.

We’re raising funds to help cover the cost of his chemotherapy, medication, and follow-up care. Cancer treatment for pets is incredibly expensive, and it’s more than Alyssa and Tyler can take on alone.
