Help William Represent team GB at the World Transplant games

Hi, my name is Ric and my wife is Angela, and we are reaching out to raise funds for our son, William, who has been given a truly incredible opportunity. William has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Transplant Games in Dresden, Germany -August 2025. This is an amazing achievement for him to even be asked to represent his country and a chance to compete on a global stage.
William’s journey began when he only a few months old, we were shocked to the core when he was diagnosed with liver cancer as a 21-week-old tiny baby. He endured multiple painful rounds of chemotherapy in an effort to shrink the huge tumour to a size that could be surgically removed. Unfortunately, the tumour was in a location that made removal impossible, and his only option was a full liver transplant. At one point he was given just 3 days left to live.
At just 10 months old, William was taken away and we didn’t know if we would see him again, as the surgeons worked for a solid 9 hours to perform surgery removing the cancer and giving him a life- saving liver transplant, which we remain in debt to a generous donor – a gift that was given during another family's time of unimaginable grief.
After his transplant, William has led an active life that we could only imagine, meaning at 7 years old he was well enough to start competing for Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the British Transplant Games. This is an annual an event where transplant recipients can participate for their hospitals team. Seeing young and old recipients come together and push through the barriers to perform is beyond humbling. Over the years, William has been an inspiration to so many, and his dedication and hard work have paid off with this amazing invitation to compete for Great Britain at the World Transplant Games!
The World Transplant Games Federation (WTGF) works to promote the benefits of successful organ transplants, raise awareness about organ donation, and support the rehabilitation and well-being of transplant recipients.
However, athletes selected to represent their countries are responsible for covering their own costs. For William to attend and participate in the World Transplant Games, the total cost is over £3000. This includes the kit, registration fees, accommodation, travel, and more – and this amount doesn't even cover additional family members who would like to join him and cheer him on.
Angela and I would be incredibly grateful for any support you can offer, whether it’s a donation or sharing this with others. William is so excited for this opportunity, and your generosity will help make his dream of competing for Great Britain a reality.
Thank you so much for considering a donation – it will mean the world to us, and especially to William.
With gratitude,
Ric & Angela
