Hi, Im Mallory and Im reaching out for help for my best friend Kasie's son (and my god son,) 17yr old William, and his family. On Thursday January 29th, William was in a motorcycle accident in Mexico (where they live). He was driving when he hit a pot hole that caused him to crash. He had his brother on the back who luckily was unharmed. Unfortunately, even though William was wearing a helmet, he suffered a brain injury- fractured skull and a minor brain bleed. He was been in a medically induced coma in the ICU in a private hospital in Cancun since then. On top of his brain injury, William will also need to have surgery on his knee. We are grateful that he is stable and are hoping he wakes up soon. But in the meantime the hospital bills are piling up as his parents, Kasie and Victor, are having to pay for everything out of pocket. There have been multiple CT scans, an MRI, the icu stay, specialists, the ambulance/boat ride off their island (Isla Mujeres) to Cancun and the list goes on. They are currently at $27,000 CAD.
If you know William, you know how kind and wonderful he is. He is one of 5 brothers and is always the guy who is helping out and thinking of others. Actually he is going to be mortified when he wakes up and learns that we are seeking help on his behalf. But its our turn to take care of William so he can focus on getting better with the support of his parents who have not left the hospital since the accident. And his 4 brothers who are back on the island being taken care of by friends/family. William has a long road ahead of him. Our hope is to ease that burden so that Kasie and Victor can focus solely on being with William and helping him heal, not trying to figure out how to juggle the financial hit of this moment.
If you’re able to donate, we are unbelievably grateful. And if you’re not, please consider sharing this fundraiser—it truly makes a difference, and you never know who it might reach.
Thank you so much,
Mallory
UPDATE: I first want to thank you all on behalf of the family. The amount of support has truly been amazing. So thank you to each and every one of you who have donated and shared. YOU have made such a difference. Now on to William! Its all good news. He is now awake and out of the ICU. His brain injury is healing well and he is expected to have a full recovery. However, he is still in a lot of pain and is scheduled to have knee surgery tomorrow. So keep sending those good vibes his way!
