Hello All!
My name is William Laney, and I am a cellist from South Carolina currently residing in New York City. I am so fortunate to have been accepted into the Artist Diploma program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music on full scholarship, and will begin my studies this Fall. This prestigious two year degree specializes in the art of chamber music, and I'm still in shock I was bestowed with such an incredible honor. I cannot wait for the opportunity to perform and delve deeper into chamber music with renowned guest artists, faculty members, and my fellow colleagues in the program.
While looking forward to this amazing opportunity, the fees and other expenses on top of full tuition will cost $5,860.00.
Coming from a blue collar background, I am the first one in my family to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree, and have been fortunate to have gone on to receive a Master's Degree. With that being said, I have been financially independent for years now, and have not had any support from my family. In order for me to attend schools in the past, I have taken out loans to primarily pay for living expenses for all my degrees, and cannot responsible take on additional debt to help cover the cost of my studies. The pandemic has only made it more difficult. As I have decided not to take out any loans to help finance this degree, I am not in a position to cover the remaining fees in order to attend in the Fall.
The fees and expenses figure I am asking for assistance covering is derived from the following:
- Yearly fees not included in tuition: $1500
- Graduate Insurance: $3,363
- Required Basic Meal Plan: $1,000
Any support I receive to help finance my studies in San Francisco would be truly incredible, and I would be so appreciative for your generosity. Your contribution will help make a dream of mine come true, and I will be eternally grateful for your support. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
All the best,
William
