Help William and Young family following car crash
Donation protected
One of those things we think, pray, hope will never happen to us is happening to our beloved William, who remains in the hospital with a severe spinal injury following a devastating car accident on November 9, 2023. Rose (Lauren) and his grandparents, Susan and Evan, have remained constantly by his side as we navigate the unending parade of loving and helpful nurses, doctors, surgeons and social workers who are helping plan for the long journey ahead. While friends and family have rallied spectacularly to support them, the costs the Youngs are incurring are way more than the family can bear.
The biggest anticipated cost is for an accessible vehicle the family will need once William leaves the hospital, to get him to and from school when he’s ready to return, as well as to ongoing medical appointments. Other costs include some initial modifications to the home, transportation, room and board near the hospital, and childcare for Rose’s daughter, as well as lost income for family members who need to devote their full attention to William's immediate needs.
Please consider helping this family, whose decades of service in veteran support, youth organizing, ecological stewardship, church, academia, and the wider community have touched so many in southeastern Ohio and beyond.
Please also share this appeal as widely as you can. As the saying goes, “a burden shared is a burden halved,” and that has never been truer for the Youngs. Thank you for being among those working to share this heavy burden and bring lightness back into their lives.
