⚠️Zillow Scam Took Everything — Help Us Start Fresh!⚠️
We thought we were moving into a safe home — a fresh start for 4 of us and our 2 dogs, one of whom is a trained service animal. The listing looked real. We had a lease, contracts, conversations, even the door code!
But we were scammed by a professional posing as a landlord through Zillow. Me and Partner put in literally our last 1,200 and the crew put in a combined $850-900 taking about 3k! Away from us like nothing!
They were through! Using canva, photoshop, and other altering apps to create documents, making everything appear legitimate. They knew how to scam new buyers and renters no just plain people.
Trying to build something stable for the first time — and they hit us hard.
One of us had already moved in when the call came — a call that shattered everything:
“This house isn’t for rent. You need to understand — this isn’t a lease property. It’s a rent-to-own.”
Everything we trusted fell apart in an instant.
We want to be honest: we paid using Zelle and Cash App. We know that was risky, and we’ve beaten ourselves up over it.
But that doesn’t undo the heartbreak, or the reality that we’re now homeless, shaken, and trying to recover from something we never saw coming.
The real property company showed us a godly amount of compassion.
They let those of us who had already moved in stay the night, and then they helped us reach out to other renters to find real, verified options. They didn’t have to do any of that. But they did. And it reminded us — even in tragedy — that there are still good people in the world.
We’re trying to raise $6,000 to find a home before September!
Where will the money go?
- Put a down payment on a safe, verified home — Doing double and triple-checking research this time — for 4 people and 2 dogs
- Ensure ongoing care for our service animal, who’s essential to daily life, as well as our second dog (lol we love him)
- Cover travel & food essentials- as I plan on moving down when more financial stable, everyday medicals, gas, and basic needs while we get back on our feet — God Bless You All! ❤️
