Help Will Johnson—Emergency Fund

I am Will's sister, Christi, and I am starting this fundraiser for Will in an attempt to ease some of the worry and stress around Will's finances so that he can concentrate his energy on healing and recovering from COVID. Will entered the ICU in Concord, NC, on Sunday, September 12, 2021, and he is still there, 117 days later. However, after LOTS of fighting on Will's part and a journey through what were some pretty dark days, the light has emerged, and we are so incredibly happy to report that Will is on the road to recovery.

You can read more of his story on his CaringBridge page, but his current status is that he has a tracheostomy and is now being weaned off of the ventilator via use of a trach collar. And just today they placed a speaking valve on the trach collar and he was able to call my mom on her birthday (best birthday present EVER!), as well as speak with me on the phone and with my dad in person.

Will has been very lucky finance-wise, with pay for work and decent insurance coverage, but his total medical bills are a bit of an unknown at this point, after so many days in the ICU and with lots of physical therapy ahead. Will wants to get back to his job as soon as his possibly can, and he is working so incredibly hard and makes more strides each and every day, but it is all one step at a time, and it is still going to be a bit of a journey to reach full recovery.

The goal of setting this up is to raise money to assist Will with his mortgage payments, medical fees, bills, etc. If you are able to chip in, donations of any size would be so, so appreciated. And we will continue to update Will's status on his CaringBridge page.
