Help Will, Brianna & Baby Rebuild Home
Donation protected
This is Will and Brianna and baby Brooklyn. You may not have heard of what they are going through because they have been trying to keep their chins up since the hurricanes destroyed their home in the Fall. And it's far from over.
If you don't know them well, they are both wonderful people and vital theatre makers. They live pretty far inland in Tampa, so it was a freak accident for their home to flood in the 2nd hurricane. They are not alone in this, of course.
Their journey has not been a good one: first they waited months to hear the NO back from insurance, which they needed to have Fema come out, which also took months. During that 3-4 months they were not allowed to do anything to their house. Not that they could anyway, as after living with us for a month, they had to temporarily live a 2 hour commute from their jobs with a baby. (Indian Rocks to Wesley Chapel!) FINALLY even though they did not get alot of help from Fema, they did get a trailer to live in from Fema that they were supposed to have for 6 months to a year while they repair the home themselves. And then they got notice last week that actually, NO, Fema is taking it back April 11.
So here are two parents of a baby, working full time jobs, trying to renovate their entire house alone just on Sundays. I asked about how they were planning on cooking and they said an instant pot and hotplate on their back porch.
This is not acceptable, especially with a baby. Shelter is a basic human need and I can't imagine the stress they are having, keeping up with jobs, trying to scrape any extra cash for these repairs, while having to deal with everyday life stuff like campers.
I'm hoping we can all get together and help them pay to get their walls, floors and maybe a few appliances. I'm sure they'll be happy to thrift all furniture and will survive. I'm sure they could do the walls and floors themselves too, but not on Sundays when they are losing their trailer on the 11th!
There's a whole lot of stuff going on that needs help. That's why they haven't asked! Why don't we all get together in the real spirit of crowdfunding and all pitch in $5-10 bucks and it will make a difference in their home and mental health.
Or if you know how to mud and tape drywall, I'm sure they simply love a hand.
