My uncle, Wilfredo Martinez Castillo, is just 39 years old. He is the father of three children from his first marriage and a loving stepfather to a boy who is wheelchair-bound. He is the rock of his family – and now, he needs help more than ever.
On April 11th, Wilfredo suddenly collapsed while taking a shower. He experienced intense headaches and vomiting before losing consciousness. After being rushed to the hospital in Managua, the doctors discovered that he had suffered a ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in his brain – a life-threatening condition.
The diagnosis is devastating:
• Intracerebral hemorrhage in the basal ganglia
• Hydrocephalus (fluid buildup in the brain)
• Hypertensive crisis
• Emergency external ventriculostomy (brain surgery)
Thanks to an emergency operation, Wilfredo is stable – but still in a delicate condition. He’s fighting to wake up fully, and every day counts.
Unfortunately, medical care in Nicaragua is expensive and often insufficient. His family cannot afford the rising costs of medication, follow-up treatment, rehabilitation, or further surgery.
That’s why I’m asking for your support – any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.
If you can’t donate, please share this fundraiser. Spreading the word gives Wilfredo and his family more hope and strength.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
