We’re Wildcat Dancesport, the University of Arizona’s Ballroom Dance team! We provide an accessible and competitive space for students to get involved in dancing and learn to love being on the floor! We hold regular club meetings multiple times a week, with a professional, high-level coach present once a week to ensure that our members learn proper syllabus routines and techniques appropriate for competing. Wildcat Dancesport participates in multiple collegiate ballroom competitions per year across the southwestern US, and we’re always pushing our students to improve!
To take our club to the next level, we’re looking to raise enough money to pay our professional coach for a second weekly lesson. Our fantastic coach Taylor does everything she can to give us the tools to win, but there’s only so much she can do in 2 hours every week. A second weekly lesson would give us the opportunity to hone in more precisely on technique practice, and potentially create a special session for our more advanced students to push themselves further without confusing our newer members.
We know learning how to ballroom dance can be prohibitively expensive for many people, and we try our best to keep our membership fees as low as possible so anyone with a passion for dancing can come and learn with us. This is why we are asking for $4,000 to pay our coach Taylor for a second weekly class and to help cover the costs of future competitions. We greatly appreciate any support you can provide, and we’ll do our best to represent Tucson’s ballroom community! Bear down!
