Help Wilbur Stay Happy and Healthy

We're raising money to help pay off our cat's medical debt (since he doesn't seem interested in getting a job).

Wilbur is a 4 year old gray cat; he enjoys biting wires, swiping at passing feet, and leavened bread. My boyfriend already had Wilbur when I moved in with him, and I instantly fell in love. He's our beautiful, silly son!

Unfortunately, he's also an anxious kid, and his stress has led him to having various urinary issues. This is compounded by the fact that male cats are just built badly, and their weird anatomy makes them incredibly prone to issues like UTIs and blockages.

After completing our move to Chicago, he settled in mostly alright, but recently he began re-exhibiting some symptoms of urinary blockage, which he'd had trouble with before. We scrounged to get him to our local vet, who unblocked him but urged us to consider an emergency vet for proper monitoring and 24/7 care. We brought him home, to find the next day that he was having trouble again. We ended up finding a vet with more generous financing options, and took him into there, where they said the only choice for his quality of life would be a PU procedure (Perineal Urethrostomy).

As I type, Wilbur has completed surgery successfully, and is in the vet's care. We're so glad to be able to get him the care that we need, but the financial burden is a lot for two kids in the big city who were broke to begin with (one unemployed). The initial vet visit was approximately $900, and that went onto our various credit cards. The surgical procedure is an estimated $3600, pending the final bill, which is being financed through Cherry. It's a chunk of change, but any contribution would mean the world to us and help give us some breathing room.
