Hi everyone — my name is Patsy, and I’m fundraising to help cover emergency medical costs for my cat Wilbur.

Wilbur is only 3.5 years old, and he recently went through a serious and unexpected dental crisis. He had been losing weight and not eating well, and we discovered he had severe dental disease that progressed quickly. During his dental procedure, he lost a tooth and the vet had to remove 14 teeth. This is rare for a cat his age, but it wasn’t optional — he was in pain, and surgery was the only way to help him stay healthy.

His surgery ended Thursday at 4:30 PM, and since then recovery has been terrifying. Wilbur has had multiple open-mouth breathing episodes (5 times) and still isn’t eating or drinking normally. His gums have remained pink, but they’ve started to feel dry/tacky, which has me worried about dehydration. I’ve also noticed his third eyelids showing a bit, his ears feeling warm at times, and minor bleeding after surgery.

Wilbur was given Simbadol for pain (lasting about 24 hours), and he’s currently taking Meloxicam for a few more days. I’ve been monitoring him nonstop, but because of the breathing episodes, he now needs an emergency vet visit immediately for triage and stabilization.

I was able to cover part of his dental cost, but I had to open a CareCredit card through Synchrony Bank to get him treated right away. To afford this, I’ve already exhausted every option I had - including selling my stock bonds to cover the surgery. My CareCredit is now basically maxed out and I only have about $100 available.

Now I’m facing additional emergency expenses for things like:

• Emergency exam / triage

• Fluids for dehydration

• Oxygen support if needed

• Imaging / monitoring

• Medications and follow-up care

• Overnight care

• ICU at TUFTS

I truly don’t have anything left to pull from — but Wilbur is my baby, and I’m not giving up on him. Any donation helps, even $5, and if you can’t donate, sharing this means the world to us.
