Help Wiglet Live Her Best Life

Donation protected
UPDATE as at 23/12/2024: Wiglet gave me a big scare by waking up quite lame in one leg a few days ago, and I was fearing the worst! Turns out she is MUCH better (no limp, but we are holding off the walkies for now until vet gives all-clear; appointment on 24/12); looks like she just pulled a muscle and no major damage. For transparency, please scroll down to see a selection of the invoices, plus more photos of Wiglet.

HELLO KIND FRIENDS! Let me tell you about April (herein referred to by her nickname ‘Wiglet’), my sweet 12-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I rescued her last November, initially planning to foster her short term. Wiglet had spent several months in the shelter, and as an older lady, she came with a few health concerns and her chances for adoption were slim. I offered to foster her as she recovered from two anterior cruciate ligament surgeries, but it wasn't long before I fell in love with her and couldn't bear the thought of her having to adapt to yet another stranger's home. I decided to adopt her permanently to make sure she would never end up in a shelter again. Slowly, with lots of love and care, she began to heal and become the outgoing, snuggly, snorty Wiglet she is today. Despite all these challenges she’s faced, her resilience and loving nature shine through every day.

Wiglet suffers from arthritis, which requires monthly vet visits to manage her pain and maintain her quality of life. These treatments are crucial for her well-being but come with significant costs. Her arthritis injections and tablets come to around AUD $280 per month.
As a freelance worker, I can cover her day-to-day needs, but the additional medical expenses can be overwhelming. Proof of ownership and adoption attached.

Adopting Wiglet has profoundly changed my life. Despite my own health challenges and living on my own, her presence has brought joy, companionship, and motivation to get out and enjoy each day. Our daily walks and shared moments are priceless.

I am asking this compassionate community for a little support. By contributing to Wiglet's medical fund, you're not just helping with her treatments—you're giving her the gift of comfort and happiness in her golden years. I understand that not everyone can adopt animals due to various circumstances, but your generosity can make a tangible difference in Wiglet's life.

Every little bit helps, and your generosity will be deeply appreciated by both Wiglet and me. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering a donation to help Wiglet live her best life.

With gratitude and warm wishes from Shona and April (Wiglet) xx
