This spring, our family suffered a heartbreaking loss when our beloved 14-year-old pitbull, Honey Buns, passed away. The hole she left in our hearts was immeasurable. After months of grieving, we decided the best way to honor her memory was to open our hearts and our home to a dog in need.

In July, we met Wiggles at Stratford Animal Control. She had come in as a stray—her fur so dirty you couldn’t even see her beautiful spots, and her collar much too tight around her neck. Despite her rough start, Wiggles greeted us with a wiggle in her step and a sparkle in her eyes. We knew instantly that she was meant to be part of our family.

Since then, Wiggles has filled our home with joy, laughter, and love. She’s been the light that’s helped us and our puppy Doughy heal. But unfortunately, last night, while playing at the dog park, Wiggles injured herself. This morning, the vet confirmed that she tore her ACL. She is scheduled for surgery on Monday, September 15.

As much as we want to give Wiggles everything she needs, the financial burden of $6,500 is overwhelming for our little family. I currently work three jobs—as a behavior therapist for children with autism at Sandy Hook Elementary, a nanny, and a dog sitter—while also being a full-time graduate student to become a BCBA. My boyfriend, Travis, works two jobs himself, between overnights in a factory and bartending at a local restaurant. We work tirelessly to support our family, but this unexpected expense is more than we can manage on our own.

Wiggles deserves a chance to run, play, and wiggle again without pain. We are asking for your help to make her surgery possible and give her the life she truly deserves.

Any contribution, no matter the size, will help bring Wiggles back to her happy, playful self. Even sharing this page means the world to us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and support.
