Help widowed single mother of 2 facing eviction

Donation protected
We have a friend (who would like to remain anonymous) in need of mutual aid. She is a disabled, widowed mother of 2 children (13 and 7) plus a cat named Tally. She is the kind of friend and neighbor who shows up for others in loving and supportive ways. In the last year, the community she lives in forced her to move for renovations. She was assured the move would be free and that she would be given assistance with both packing and moving. Our friend struggles to keep her house clean due to her chronic pain and when she asked if this would be a problem during the moving process she was told it would be fine and to “just sweep the floors and empty the fridge”.
Shortly after they moved her back into her permanent home she was served with a pay or evict notice for $2850. Supposedly it was what the moving company was charging for packing and moving in “unsanitary conditions”, but no one communicated there was a problem at the time of the move, nor that she would be charged a fee. The amount showed up on her rent payment app a couple of weeks ago with no explanation and she had been attempting, unsuccessfully, to get someone at the leasing office to explain the reason for the charges. When they served her with the ‘pay or evict’ order, she asked for an invoice explaining the charges and while she does finally have an invoice, it doesn’t contain a full list that breaks down specific reasons for the amount billed. She currently has 7 days to get money together to pay them before she is evicted.
Our friend relies on a Housing Choice voucher to pay a significant portion of her rent and has minimal income. She's currently trying to work with local legal services to help her with mediation and possible legal council, however we cannot possibly predict the outcome of that process so we would like to help create a financial safety net for her and her kids, in the event she needs to pay the bogus fees or actually experiences eviction. It is our understanding that a voucher holder loses their voucher if evicted. Anything you can contribute would help our lovely friend and her children stay housed.
