Help WICI Song & Dance With Unplanned Expenses

The WICI Song and Dance Theater kindly ask for your financial support. From July 29 – August 7, the dance group traveled to Neustadt, Germany, for the CIOFF Folklore Festival. WICI was representing the United States in this international festival under the umbrella of UNESCO.

Due to many unforeseen circumstances overseas, the dancers endured additional unplanned and great financial expenses and are asking for your help.

Although the participants paid for their flights, the total cost of additional expenses exceeds $20,000. Due to the strike of Lufthansa Airlines, the dancers were forced to purchase connecting flights to get to the festival destination. Later, on the way to the airport to return to the USA, the bus was rear-ended by a speeding car, thankfully resulting in no injuries to all parties, but caused significant delays that resulted in the dancers missing their flight back to Chicago.

Even under those circumstances, the airlines could not rebook the flight, and once again, the group was forced to purchase new tickets plus room and board until the next flight. All of the above complications have led to tremendous expenses and debt.

WICI is a nonprofit organization exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue.
