My name is Whitney Alexandria Adderley, and I am seeking your assistance in acquiring a financial
donation to help defray the cost of my upcoming Limbal Stem Cell Cornea/ transplant Surgery,
moe tanian Surgery,
which is slated for 20th May, 2025, at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami Florida.
I wish to tell you a little about myself. In December, 2015, during the trimester of my high School at
Temple Christian High School, my mom took me to doctor for a UTI infection, I was administered
some medication, within a few hours I started to feel fatigue, nauseated and light headed and started
to developed blisters all over my face and body, Subsequently, I was taken to the hospital, hours
later I was diagnose as having Steven Johnson Syndrome (SJS). Steven Johnson Syndrome is a
severe form of an allergic reaction to medication (antibiotics which in my case was penicillin and
clindamycin) it attacks the membranes and the mucous in the body e.g. mouth, eyes & vagina. I was
placed in the female surgical unit for four days, experiencing acute pain before the doctors was able
to assist. Consequently, I was referred to the Critical Care Unit where I was further placed in a self-
induce coma and stayed there for three (3) weeks. I was burnt from the inside out my skin actual fell
of and my eyes was affected. Through God and his infant wisdom and healing, I pulled through with
the support of my doctors and mother. After signs of improvement I was placed on an open ward
within a private room and then sent home two (2) weeks, thereafter my mother nursed me back to
health. After recovering from my illness I attempted to go to the University of the Bahamas to study
Nursing, as a child I had a passion to help and heal sick children and wanted to become a pediatric
nurse and so I got enroll into the nursing programme, during my time in the classroom my vision was
low and sometimes blurry and I had horrible headaches, my Lecture advise me to seek help for my
eyes and so I had to drop my classes for the time being (one day I wish to start again but this time
in a different major - Psychology).
Later, I was referred to the the Princess Margaret Hospital Eye Care Center under the care of Dr.
Kenneth Rodgers and thus assigned to Dr. Turan Arora to date, he advised that of a lengthy process
with no quick fix to help me get some of my vision back. Over the years after having perforations in
both my corneas, I was told by Dr. Arora that there was nothing more he can do to help me further
and recommended that I seek assistance in the United States at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in
In early 2020, I had another perforation and in order to save my vision Dr. Arora placed crazy glue
in my eye to save my sight, I traveled to Bascom Palmer on an emergency flight after spending two
(2) weeks in hospital, I absorbed all funds. Due to pre-existing conditions, same prohibited me from
enlisting in medical insurance. My mother has been my sole parent and the only source of income I
rely on, she aids with doctor's appointment and all associated medical bills. Moreover, her salary is
at its maximum. With no other source of income aside from my disability benefits received from NIB
monthly in the amount of three hundred and nine Dollars ($309.00). My mother hosted a souse out
to aid with hotel accommodations and medical bills, a help but still mounting medical bills. I
underwent two major surgeries that year.

my eyes are strong enough. During my last visit on 1gth February, 2025, I was advised that I am now
capable to proceed with this surgery which is slated for 20th May, 2025, which wil be rendered done
to my left eye which I can see only waving motions. I am currently on Methotrexate Medication that
is an immune suppressant drug that will help lower my immune system to help with my stem cell
surgery.
Over the years my vision has decrease drastically, I am now only able to see shadows and hand
movement in my right eye and and waving hand movements in my left eye. I have been battling with
this health issue for over ten years, it's been rough. I've watch my sight decline to the point I am
unable to see my mother and things around me, both of my corneas are stitched and I have a graft
over my left eye. Additionally, I also have blood vessel and scaring over both my corneas (due to
same, l'm in constant pain). Depression have taken a toll of my life for a few years. Wanting to end
my life, as a young person this is truly difficult having to be contingent on people and family members
to assist me. In addition to constant head aches and eye pains suffered from on a daily basis, also
being able to experience life, and the beauty of this world as other young people. Nevertheless, I'm
grateful for the kind of persons that the Lord has place in my life, people who uplifted me and
motivated me on a daily basis.

which is slated for 20th May, 2025 at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami Fl. I am also attaching
costing and letter of referral from Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
