My name is Whitney & I recently had FFS (Facial Feminization Surgery), which has been a huge step for me in my transition. I have started my recovery from my FFS, and the financial costs for meds, bills, food, & other necessities have become more daunting as the EDD process for SDI benefits has been a constant hurdle because of their systems not updating my legal name change, ultimately halting my application temporarily. My wife Haley has taken time off work to help me with dressing changes, meds, eating, & running errands. Gender-affirming care has been lifesaving care, and I feel so privileged to have access as a trans person, but this is the reality of some of the more intense options that help some trans people live more authentically & with a little less fear of being ostracized. October/November are going to be challenging for us & while we know we will be okay, we’d be forever grateful for any help while we navigate my recovery. Thank you for your time & consideration ❤️
