Hi, my name is Whitney and for the past 16+ years, I have been privileged and honored to serve as a nurse to our community. It is a strange and humbling experience to be on the other end of that dynamic now as a patient who is undergoing extensive treatment and testing. I have been out of work since July and unable to continue to care for folks as I have done my entire life, while I struggle with my own appointments and therapies.
I have to travel great distances and have numerous appointments every week. I am following with several different specialists, including neurology, cardiology, rheumatology, physical therapy, orthopedics, and a chiropractor. Relapsing/Remitting MS and getting worked up for Ehlers-Danlos due to constant pain, fatigue, falls, joints dislocating, and a blind spot in my eye. Praying for answers, but in the meantime, could really just use help so I can continue to make it to appointments. New specialist is at the Cleveland Clinic in October and I have travel expenses. Even $50 helps pay for a copayment.
Most recently, I had a major setback when I was hospitalized for cellulitis in my arm that turned septic and then into an abscess. I have a new appreciation for everything my patients ever experienced over the many years I cared for them, and I hope to be well enough soon to bring a new, bigger compassion back to my nursing career with me!
