Hi, my name is Whiskey!
My furever mom (Surprise! She foster failed and adopted me!!) wants to give me the world, and I'm hoping you might be able to help her with that.
She says that despite my rough start to life, I'm the most happy, resilient little pup she's ever met. I just love my life in Canada so much, I go hiking and camping with her and she carries me around in her backpack since I can't walk so well.
I haven't always had it this good. I'm a disabled husky pup from Egypt. I was born with both my front legs deformed. My owners dumped me in a remote desert outside of Alexandria with no food, water, or shelter. I was found by chance, starving and alone, and was brought to a shelter. This amazing woman named Helen found me, and arranged for me to have my worst leg amputated so that I could move better. Once I was all healed up, she arranged for me to come to Canada for a chance at a new life!
BARCS Rescue in Calgary sponsored me, and arranged for a foster to take care of me once I got here. My (foster) mom picked me up at the airport in Calgary in September. I couldn't walk, so she was immediately concerned about my "good" front leg.
We've been to doctors, specialists, and surgeons, trying to figure out what's wrong with my leg. Turns out I have a severe angular limb deformity - my bone should be straight but it's actually curved at a 90 degree angle. This puts a ton of pressure on my joint and I'm already showing signs of arthritis.
To help me enjoy life and live pain free as long as possible, there are a few things I need that I'm hoping to raise money for:
- A wheelchair or cart.
- A rehabilitation specialist.
- Puppy classes so I can learn to behave in my wheelchair.
- A proper doggy backpack.
- Ramps for the house, couch, and bed.
Any extra funds raised will be put in a separate savings account for additional things I need, like pain medication, nutritional supplements, and hopefully some special puzzle toys to help keep my brain busy.
My mom and I are so incredibly thankful for all the love and support we've been receiving. This is all new to me and it feels so good to be loved! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Love Whiskey
