Help Whiskey Heal – Emergency Vet Trip for Ear Hematoma
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ryan, and this sweet boy is Whiskey, my best friend, cuddle bug, and family.
Recently, Whiskey developed a severe ear hematoma. His entire ear is swollen, and the ear canal is almost completely closed. He’s uncomfortable, and without treatment it risks infection, rupture, and permanent damage.
We live in Fort Smith, NT, where vet care is extremely limited. The nearest full-service clinic is in High Level, AB, over 570 km one way.
Estimated Costs
Mackenzie Vet Services provided an official estimate of $758–$1,074 CAD for the procedure at their High Level clinic. This includes exam, sedation, surgery, and medications.
Because I have to travel for his care, there are also significant extra costs:
Gas for 1,140 km round trip: $250
Hotel (1–2 nights, pet friendly): $150–$300
Food for 2–3 days on the road: $80–$125
GoFundMe processing fees
Total Needed
All together, this brings the total to about:
Low end: $1500
High end: $1,750 CAD
To be safe and realistic, I’ve set my goal at $1,750 CAD so Whiskey’s treatment and the trip are fully covered.
Why I Need Help
I work seasonally as a school bus driver, and I don’t return to work until later in September. Right now, I simply can’t afford to cover these costs upfront. Mackenzie Vet does not offer payment plans (I asked during a previous visit for Whiskey’s neuter), so I need to raise the full amount before booking.
Whiskey is family. He’s been with us through thick and thin, and he deserves to get through this without pain or lasting damage.
If you can donate even a little, or simply share this fundraiser, it would mean the world. Every bit brings us closer to getting him healed.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and helping in any way you can.
