Help while undergoing chemotherapy

Hi, I am Juanita (Randy’s wife) and I am asking for help while Randy is undergoing Chemotherapy treatments in Cleveland. Due to these aggressive treatments I’ve had to take time off of work myself to care for Randy as well as driving him to and from Cleveland to receive the treatments every 3 weeks for 3 days.

A brief background on Randy’s journey. Randy was diagnosed with Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer in February 2023. At that time Randy had a 10cm tumor in his Esophagus which made it nearly impossible for him to eat & drink. He lost nearly 40 pounds in a matter of 3 months. Due to the dramatic weight loss Randy had to get a j-tube placed for supplemental feeding. In May Randy started his first round of chemotherapy in pill form, which he ended up receiving 7 rounds of this chemo treatment. This chemo consisted of 2 weeks on one week off. This treatment seemed to be at a stand still near round 5 and his oncologist wasn’t changing anything. So we decided that it was time to get a 2nd opinion. We then started going to the Cleveland clinic. Randy’s first appointment was the first week of November 2023. New scans were getting done to check the progress and we were waiting on the results to see if this was the best treatment option. But a few days later things started getting worse. Randy was having excruciating pain in his abdomen and lower back. The new oncologist confirmed a few days later that the cancer had in fact spread to his liver. Which brings us to him stopping the chemo pills and switching to IV chemotherapy. Before the 1st round of IV chemo Randy experienced new symptoms and pains which led us to an emergency room visit. Randy had a blood clot in his spleen, blocking blood flow causing severe pain. He was transferred to Cleveland Clinic were he spent five days and had to receive blood thinners and 3 blood transfusions. Thankfully he didn’t have to have surgery. Randy just finished his second round of IV chemo and it is really hard on his body. He is not able to care for himself without assistance and is very weak. With that being said, I have to take time off from work to take care of him during and after his treatments. As well as any other times that he has a bad day.

These funds will help our family with the gas to get to and from Cleveland, food, help with paying bills since Randy hasn’t been able to work and getting Randy any medical supplies that isn’t covered by insurance.

Our family is grateful for any donation we receive to lessen the financial stress during this difficult time in our lives.
